The Seattle Kraken will be looking for scoring

TSN: Seattle Kraken GM Jason Botterill will be looking to add some forwards this offseason, players who can score, according to Darren Dreger. Berkly Catton and Shane Wright are still developing, and adding some scoring help would take the pressure off. They’ll also make signing trade deadline acquisition Bobby McMann a priority.

Emerald City Hockey: Seattle Kraken pending UFA forward Bobby McMann said there haven’t been any contact talks yet.

Winning is going to be the biggest thing he’s looking for when deciding where he’s going to sign.

Matthew Knies on his high trade value

Anna Dua: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies on the trade deadline speculation that his trade value was high and that it’s a compliment: “I wouldn’t want to look at it as a compliment, I’d look at it as a crappy thing. I don’t want to leave this group of guys… it doesn’t really matter what it was. I wouldn’t want to leave here.”

NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, and the Winnipeg Jets

Some turmoil and inability to make a move early in the season for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Jonas Siegel, Chris Johnston, and James Mirtle of the Athletic: One team source said that Keith Pelley was very involved on trade deadline day, and some feel that he trade notes of potential returns that were created by AI and Models. When asked by The Athletic, Pelley brushed away that notion. Pelley did discover that day, that the Leafs front office appeared disorganized and directionless.

GM Brad Treliving tried to add a top-six forward and an offensive defenseman last offseason. He found neither.

The Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets talked about a Nick Robertson for Egor Chinakhov trade, but they couldn’t agree on a deal. The Leafs were offering up a second-round pick, but couldn’t find anything. They also looked at re-acquiring Luke Schenn. The Leafs did add Troy Stecher in November, but no other moves to help save their season.

Team executives from around the league found the Maple Leafs frustrating to deal with as talks seemed to be tiring kicking and not serious. There also seemed to be a growing divide between players and head coach Craig Berube. Treliving always believed in Berube, who has two years left on his deal.

Morgan Rielly Knows Some Change is Coming, But Will he be Asked to be a Part of the Change?

Is Mike Gillis the front-runner in Toronto?

Taj: Justin Bourne and Nick Kypreos on the Kyper & Bourne show:

Bourne: “I feel like Mike Gillis is pretty clearly the front-runner.”

Kyper: “I don’t see anyone else guys…At this point right now, it’s really starting to feel like Mike Gillis.”
