Some unfinished business for the Calgary Flames
Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta, on the Calgary Flames, what they could look at doing this offseason and some of their unfinished business.
“Calgary, another one. They have some unfinished business, the Calgary Flames do from this season. And, you know, obviously Blake Coleman‘s kind of at the forefront of that going into the final year of his contract. I think there will be continued conversations this summer with respect to him.
We know that one of the targets that Calgary had this season was trying to get a new center. A new top-line center, obviously, with (Nazem Kadri) being moved out and whatnot. That’ll continue.
The Vancouver Canucks GM Position is Still Desirable
What I’m hearing a little bit of is, would they move Morgan Frost in a larger type of deal, in order to try to address the center position. More long-term, in terms of bringing in somebody a little bit younger that could be there a little bit longer. So that’s just something I would keep tabs on, you know, on, on that side of things.”
No talks between the Blue Jackets and their pending UFAs, and they’d be open to trading their first-round pick
Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: The Columbus Blue Jackets have had five coaches in the past four seasons. That’s not easy on development of their younger players.
The Blue Jackets have notable pending UFAs in forwards Charlie Coyle, Boone Jenner and Mason Marchment, and defenseman Erik Gudbranson and it doesn’t sound like there have been any talks yet. They 15 UFAs and RFAs to make decisions on. Notable pending RFAs are Adam Fantilli, Cole Sillinger and Jet Greaves.
It’s a win-now mode for the Blue Jackets, and they’d be open to moving their first-round pick (currently No. 14) in the right deal. GM Don Waddell:
NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs, Predators, and the Red Wings
“Yes. I would say yes, if we think it would make our team better. Our goal is to continue to try to take the next step forward, so I would say everything is on the table at this point.”
