Teams Waiting on Tkachuk-Staios Conversation
Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Power Play Segment with Steve Kouleas and Jason Strudwick on Wednesday. There, he was asked about the situation with the Ottawa Senators and Brady Tkachuk as potential suitors wait and see what happens.

NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Brady Tkachuk
Steve Kouleas: “Dave, let’s begin with Brady. Did you hear what he said? What do you know? What do you think about Tkachuk’s future?”
Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, I did. And look, a lot of people around the league have been telling me that there’s going to be conversations coming up, with respect to teams poking around and seeing if they can get their hands on him. I don’t think that’s changed. Now, this isn’t a scenario where he’s demanded a trade or anything like that. But there is a belief that teams are going to be reaching out and seeing if Steve Staios is going to be willing to listen and pull the trigger on something potentially.
He’s expressed Brady today, acknowledging and expressing that he’s been committed to the Sens. He’s been committed to the city. I don’t think anybody is questioning that, but there is a lot of speculation. This isn’t one or two people around the league bringing this up. It’s been spreading for a little stretch here that those conversations are going to happen.
The Rumors and Noise Will Only Get Louder Around Brady Tkachuk
Now it ultimately comes down to what the Senators want to do. He’s got two years left on his contract. He even said today, it’s premature to talk extension. You can have those loose conversations. But you can’t do anything until next July, not this July. So those conversations, I believe, will be had. I think they’ll have a conversation with or together. I should say, excuse me, because I don’t believe they haven’t had that yet, at least going into the press conference today.
So we’ll see. But if those conversations are had and the phone is picked up, they’re going to be a number of potential suitors that would love to get their hands on this kind of player.”

It is clear that something is about to hit a boiling point in Ottawa. We know the Senators are sensitive to the Tkachuk trade rumors. However, until the conversation between Staios and Brady Tkachuk takes place, speculation about his future in Ottawa will continue.
