The LA Kings and Drew Doughty’s camp haven’t had any extension talks
Zach Dooley: Los Angeles Kings pending UFA defenseman Drew Doughty said that there haven’t been any contract extension talks between the sides. He’d like to finish his career with the Kings if presented with an offer.
Doughty: “There’s been absolutely no conversation about it. I want to stay here. I would hope that the Kings want me to stay here too. If they approach me to get something done, I’m going to get it done.”
The New Jersey Devils and Nico Hischier’s camp had an introductory call
Kristy Flannery of The Hockey News: New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier is eligible for a contract extension after July 1st, and it will be near the top of new GM Sunny Mehta’s to-do list. Top 12 pending NHL unrestricted free agents
Luke Fox of Sportsnet: A look at the top 12 NHL unrestricted free agents.
1. Alex Tuch – RW – Buffalo Sabres – Can put up 35-goals and brings intangibles. The Sabres can’t afford to let him walk. He could be looking at Adrian Kempe‘s $10.625 million or more.
2. Rasmus Andersson – RHD – Vegas Golden Knights – The Golden Knights have less then $4 million in projected cap space, so they may need to make some moves if they want to extend him. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins were interested in trading for him this season.
3. Darren Raddysh – RHD – Tampa Bay Lightning – Put 70 points this season, while averaging 23 minutes a game. He could be looking for a deal close to J.J. Moser‘s four-year deal with a $6.75 million cap hit. The Maple Leafs will be among the interested teams.
4. John Carlson – RHD – Anaheim Ducks – The Ducks would like to re-sign their trade deadline acquisition after giving up a first and third. Some wonder about him heading back to Washington.
5. Evgeni Malkin – C – Pittsburgh Penguins – He wants to be back with the Penguins next year. What will GM Kyle Dubas decide?
6. Charlie Coyle – C – Columbus Blue Jackets – They have the cap space to re-sign and will have interest. Will Coyle want to test the market that is deprived of centers?
7. Jacob Trouba – RHD – Anaheim Ducks – The Ducks have three veteran right-handed, pending UFA defensemen to decide on.
8. Anthony Mantha – RW/LW – Pittsburgh Penguins – Put up a career high 33 goals. He’s been inconsistent throughout his career, so teams may be reluctant to go too long. His shooting percentage was 21.7%, compared to his career average of 13.8%.
9. Bobby McMann – LW – Seattle Kraken – Put up 10 goals and four assists in 18 games for the Kraken after the trade from the Maple Leafs. He fit in nicely. No talks yet as they are doing an organizational audit.
The Maple Leafs should have more player movement than the Blackhawks
10. Stuart Skinner – G – Pittsburgh Penguins – The best goaltending option who is under 30.
11. Jaden Schwartz – LW – Seattle Kraken – Dealt with injuries last season and could be a wait-and-see for the Kraken.
12. Alex Ovechkin – LW – Washington Capitals – Will he want to keep playing to chase 1,000 goals? The Caps are giving Ovechkin time and space to him to make a decision if he wants to play another year.
