The Ottawa Senators need another goal scorer and to become tougher to play against
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: It’s believed that Ottawa Senators GM Steve Staios was meeting with forward Brady Tkachuk on Monday to go over the season and what the team could be looking to do this offseason. Tkachuk said on his Podcast on Friday that he was going to be meeting with the Sens in the coming days.
Tkachuk has two years left on his contract. Staios has said he doesn’t want to trade Tkachuk, and all the outside talk is nonsense.
The Senators have some areas of need if they want to be a contender – a legit goal scorer to play with Tim Stutzle, and they need to be tougher to play against, especially on the blue line.

Will Ryan Shea test free agency after his 35-point season, or will the Penguins offer up enough for him to stay?
DFO Rundown: Jason Gregor and Jeff Marek discuss Pittsburgh Penguins pending UFA defenseman Ryan Shea after his six-goal, 29-assist season. Does he re-sign with the Penguins, or does he test free agency?
Gregor: “To me, this is a prime candidate who owes it to himself, not that he disrespects Pittsburgh, but says, ‘Guys, I’m going to listen to your offer, but I owe it to myself and my family to just step into free agency on July 1st and see what’s there.’
Do you think he walks around, or do you think Pittsburgh will offer him enough for him to avoid free agency?”
Marek: “I think Pittsburgh will, will offer him enough for him to certainly consider it. But at the end of it, like this is, this is business. This is business for the teams, and this should be business for the, for the players.
He’s essentially Darren Raddysh from last year. Okay, now I’m not going to say that Jay’s going to go off for 70, but the trajectory seems to be the same here for similar-ish defensemen.
Listen, we all know how valuable defensemen are. So sure. I don’t know. I don’t know if there’s a team is going to, like, go crazy on Ryan Shea and offer him something just absolutely ridiculous. Because I think you still want to see more out of him. You want to, you want to see him do it at the NHL level, more.

But I think he certainly gets a bump, absolutely. I’d be more curious to see what, what, what term he’s offered, as opposed to number.”
