** Different sites can use different criteria for determining who is still a prospect. Also, for Dobber Prospect lists they take a fantasy hockey approach – prospects whose current trajectory projects them making the most positive fantasy impact at the time that they reach the NHL.

Isaac Howard – Howard is one of Edmonton’s highest-upside prospects and is widely viewed as a player who could challenge for NHL minutes quickly. He arrives with major offensive pedigree after winning the Hobey Baker Award, and Edmonton’s current prospect rankings put him near the top of the system. The main selling point is his scoring ability and creativity; the key question is how quickly that offense translates against NHL competition.

Matt Savoie – Savoie is currently one of the Oilers’ most NHL-ready prospects and is expected to compete for a roster spot soon. He’s been productive in Bakersfield, and the profile on him is that of a quick, skilled, high-energy forward who can help with pace and penalty killing. His size is modest, but his skating and offensive instincts keep him near the top of Edmonton’s prospect pool.

Beau Akey – Akey is a talented right-shot defenseman whose development has been slowed by injuries, but he still profiles as one of Edmonton’s better blue-line prospects. The organization sees him as a player with enough skill and mobility to become a useful NHL defender if he can stay healthy and stack pro games. He is still more of a projection than a finished product, but his upside keeps him in the upper tier of the pool.

Maxim Berezkin – Berezkin is a skilled, big winger who had a strong KHL season and is viewed as a potential NHL fit if he decides to come over. Edmonton’s prospect coverage describes him as a player who could help the Oilers with size and skill on the wing. He is not as immediate a candidate as Savoie or Howard, but his production in Russia makes him an intriguing depth-upside piece.

Samuel Jonsson – Jonsson is a goaltending prospect with real intrigue after a strong season in Sweden. He posted a .922 save percentage in Sweden’s second-tier league and is viewed by some as a possible future backup for Edmonton. His path is less flashy than the top forward prospects, but the Oilers clearly value him as part of the next wave in goal.
