Are the Rangers waiting on the Red Wings to trade Dylan Larkin, before they trade Vincent Trocheck? His market may be shrinking
TSN: The New York Rangers may be waiting for the Detroit Red Wings to trade Dylan Larkin, before they look to move Vincent Trocheck, according to Pierre LeBrun. Some think this gives the Rangers more control over the center market.
Teams have told LeBrun that if Steve Yzerman doesn’t get his ask, he’s okay with bringing Larkin back next year. That could be posturing, but this is Steve Yzerman.
“In the meantime, on Trocheck, I mentioned Buffalo, I think the Leafs have called in the last week, the Montreal Canadiens are monitoring that situation, and there are lots of teams interested.
The asking price from New York is a first-round pick and a prospect, I’m told. How many teams are willing to line up for that?”

Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic: New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck changed agents last week to Pat Brisson. He’s now responsible for getting Trocheck moved, after he wasn’t dealt at the trade deadline. The Rangers figured they would get better offers this offseason.
The soon-to-be 33-year-old has three years left at a $5.625 million. The Rangers have let it be known that they don’t have to trade him. GM Chris Drury might be okay with the equivalent of a first-round pick and a prospect, depending on who they are dealing with.
The list of interested teams may be getting smaller. The Minnesota Wild talk has cooled. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins may not see the cost worth where they are in the rebuild/retool. A Dylan Larkin trade could take one suitor out of the mix.
The Carolina Hurricanes had interest in reacquiring Trocheck at the deadline, might re-visit. The Buffalo Sabres could be looking for a forward. The Montreal Canadiens may be looking for a second-line center, and the same could be said for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Chris Johnston reported the Maple Leafs spoke to the Rangers about Trocheck.

He has a 12-team no-trade list that moves to a 10-team no-trade list on July 1st. Trocheck may be more open to the West than he was at the deadline. The Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and Utah Mammoth might be interested in adding a center.
