Things haven’t worked out yet for the Edmonton Oilers in trying to find a fit with Darnell Nurse’s three-team list
Kevin Paul Dupont: Talk from the weekend out of Edmonton was that they could be okay with a Darnell Nurse for Mason Lohrei deal. The Oilers would have to be willing to “share” the cap difference, which is about a $6 million difference.
Dupont says: “I could see Bruins moving form Lohrei’s $3.2M AAV to something around $6.5M AAV for Nurse.”
Daily Faceoff: A few teams outside of Darnell Nurse’s three-team requested list have shown interest, according to David Pagnotta, and finding a fit hasn’t been easy for the Edmonton Oilers.

“So there’s still a lot of activity on Darnell Nurse. Doesn’t look like, and I think I mentioned some of this over the weekend too, doesn’t look like LA’s a fit. Anaheim remains in play, and he would have to approve, he would have to waive to go to the Ducks beyond his other list of teams that include Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston.
I don’t see a fit with either Pittsburgh or Boston at the moment. Philly, Philly’s still in this, but there’s a few different options, and one includes a little bit of retention. Pittsburgh wanted a bigger chunk of retention. It’s not going to happen, at least right now.
Philly looks like it’s a little bit less retention, but they also have a different, you know, a few other moving parts. They’re in on Werenzky. They’re talking to teams about still (Rasmus) Ristolainen. Doesn’t look, unless things have changed morning, doesn’t look like Ristolainen would go back to Edmonton as part of it, if they figure out this Nurse deal.
And then San Jose is kind of creeping in on this as well. He would obviously need to approve for either the Ducks or the Sharks. But I wouldn’t count the sharks out just yet. I think they circled back earlier, either , late , or earlier morning.

He wants it. We just saw Brendan Gallagher go to Vancouver, more of a find the player the right fit scenario. They’re trying to do the same with Nurse, although there is going to be a decent, there’s going to be something coming back that’s going to benefit the Oilers in some capacity, when all is said and done.
