Free agency is about to open, and there are lots of trade and free agent rumors swirling
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Toronto Maple Leafs will take a swing at Zach Werenski. Will be interesting to see what the Tampa Bay Lightning offer.
- David Pagnotta: “Tampa Bay remains engaged in talks here. Philly was in mix too, but seems like TB is Werenski’s top choice right now.”
- Pierre LeBrun: “Will reiterate again that Tampa Bay and Toronto would be among the top teams I think Werenski would accept a trade to. But can those teams satisfy CBJ trade requirements remains to be seen.”
Don’t see how Connor Hellebuyck‘s contract fits Sunny Mehta’s profile. A trade to the Buffalo Sabres may not have been as close as we thought.
The Dallas Stars and Jason Robertson could go to arbitration. The Stars aren’t budging. Will Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman decide Robertson is his best option for Dylan Larkin.
NHL Rumors: Laughton, Carlson, Hellebuyck, Perron, and Larkin
The Edmonton Oilers had some interest in Sergei Bobrovsky. The Toronto Maple Leafs may be the frontrunners. His last ask to the Panthers may have been three years at $7 million per.
- James Mirtle: “If the Leafs sign Bobrovsky, which could happen tomorrow, it’s going to be for less than the numbers that have been out there. Definitely real interest though.” (this was before Friedman put out the above numbers for Bobrovsky)
Could see Nico Hischier at just under $12 million.
Could see Quinn Hughes signing a three-year, $18 million extension sometime in July.
The Edmonton Oilers don’t like the contract the Pittsburgh Penguins want to send back in a Darnell Nurse trade. The Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins are interested. The San Jose Sharks are very interested, but Nurse is only looking at the Eastern Conference for now.
The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams interested in Mason Marchment. The San Jose Sharks could be the sentimental favorite.
Carolina Hurricanes’ Alexander Nikishin is getting interest. He’s not offer sheet eligible. The Rangers offer of a first-round pick and another pick was turned down at the draft.
The Kings, Flyers, Maple Leafs, Mammoth and Canucks have shown interest in centers Noel Acciari, Erik Haula, Boone Jenner, Scott Laughton, Colton Sissons and Kevin Stenlund.
Vincent Trocheck wants the East, but Utah is interested.
The Kings were interested in Haula before the deadline, but he was hurt.
If the Winnipeg Jets trade Hellebuyck, Stuart Skinner would make sense for the Jets.
Potential blue line options for the San Jose Sharks – Ian Cole, Jamie Oleksiak or Jacob Trouba.
The Tampa Bay Lightning like Ryan Shea, but they’re interested in Werenski and Carlson as well.
