Injuries: Blue Jackets, Wild, Flyers, Panthers, Coyotes and More

On the Blue Jackets …

  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: Brandon Dubinsky suffered a cut on his elbow on Oct. 22nd that required stitches. A few weeks later the cut reopened, and it got infected.

“My arm swelled to the size of a knee,” Dubinsky said. “I mean, it escalated fast. It kept growing and spreading up and down my arm, from my wrist to my armpit. It was hot. It had like a red line up and down my arm. It was pretty gross.”

He has surgery about 10 days ago, spending the night in the hospital. Dubinsky practiced yesterday, but won’t play tomorrow. He won’t play until the incision is fully healed.

  • Alex Wennberg is close to returning to full practice soon.

“I tried to play through it, but we decided to make it right,” Wennberg said. “It wasn’t going to heal until I stopped playing and let it rest. I felt great (Monday). It was great to be back. Hopefully I can play on Wednesday.”

On the Wild …

  • Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Justin Fontaine practiced for the first time since spraining his MCL on Oct. 30th.
  • Ryan Carter left practice early yesterday after taking a puck to the face and headed straight to the dentist.
  • Zach Parise didn’t practice yesterday.

“He clearly wasn’t feeling 100 percent , so we’ll just take things slowly,” Yeo said. ” he’ll skate with Andy again and see where he’s at . We’re not panicking here by any means. I was shocked that he was on the ice with us, — well not shocked knowing him, but we weren’t sitting around thinking that he’d be in the lineup for us Wednesday.”

  • Marco Scandella (lower-body) didn’t practice yesterday.

On the Jets …

  • Ken Wiebe: Coach Paul Maurice said that Ondrej Pavelec has a significant knee sprain and won’t play any games in December.
