Injuries: Canadiens, Blues, Avs, Jets, Canucks, Devils and More

On the Canadiens …

  • Montreal Canadiens: Brendan Gallagher will have surgery today to repair two broken fingers.

On the Blues …

  • Lou Korac: The Blues will know after their morning skate today if center Paul Stastny will be able to return to the lineup. He’s traveling with the team to Buffalo and Pittsburgh.
  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: Stastny practiced yesterday on a line with Alex Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko. Stastny has been out for the past 16 games with a broken right foot.

“Like the ‘doc’ said, once you’re comfortable with it, you’re healed enough where a low blow won’t break it back again,” Stastny said Thursday. “I think that’s their biggest worry, is if I do get an unfortunate bounce — if it recracks — that’s another four to six weeks. That would be the dumbest thing. Everyone wants to get back there as fast as you can, but you’ve got to be smart about it.”

On the Avalanche …

  • Mike Chambers: The Avs have activated Semyon Varlamov from the IR and assigned Calvin Pickard to the AHL.

On the Jets …

On the Canucks …

  • Kevin Woodley of NHL.com: Radim Vrbata returned last night after missing the past two games with a lower-body injury.
  • Jon Abbott:  Coach Willie Desjardins said that Ben Hutton will likely be out for at least two weeks, though there is not a defined timeline.

On the Devils …

  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: David Schlemko is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Eric Gelinas got back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch for seven straight games.

On the Hurricanes …

  • Canes Gameday: Nathan Gerbe left yesterday’s game with a lower-body injury.

On the Bruins …

  • Boston Bruins: Defenseman Kevan Miller was put on the IR after the team claimed Landon Ferraro on waivers.
