  • Michael Smith: Hurricanes Jordan Staal and Jiri Tlusty are expected back tonight.
  • Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press: Jets Evander Kane is questionable for tonight. He blocked a shot on Saturday and didn’t practice yesterday. He’ll be re-evaluated today. The Jets recalled Patrice Cormier. Injured Zach Bogosian, Tobias Enstrom and Jacob Trouba skated yesterday. Bogosian and Enstrom are out until at least mid-January. Trouba won’t be back until February.
  • Boston Bruins: Bruins Milan Lucic and Patrice Bergeron are day-to-day.
  • Lou Korac: Blues Brian Elliott has been cleared by doctors to return to action. It’s now up to Elliott and their goalie coach Jim Corsi on when he’s ready to play.
  • Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Indications are that Flyers goalie Steve Mason will return tonight. Mason says he’s ready to return, but coach Craig Berube remain unsure.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins: Penguins coach Mike Johnston expects Patric Hornqvist to be out for a few weeks with a lower-body injury.
  • Arthur Staple: The Islanders activate Jaroslav Halak from the IR and he could start tonight.
  • Rob Longley: Maple Leafs Richard Panik left last night’s game with a suspected concussion.
  • Lance Pugmire: Ducks Corey Perry and Tim Jackman skated yesterday morning.
  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs Jonathan Bernier missed last night’s game with an illness. He’s not showing any signs of the mumps.
  • Winnipeg Jets: Jets Mark Stuart was put on the IR retroactive to December 17th.
