  •  Alex Prewitt: Capitals Brooks Orpik is waiting to see how he responds to treatment and if he can play in the Winter Classic: “Would be disappointing to miss this one, but that’s up in the air now.” Orpik on if he thinks it’s a long-term issue and and if he tore anything:  “No, I don’t think so.”
  • Joe Haggerty: Bruins Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic haven’t been given clearance to play tonight yet.
  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs Richard Panik skated lightly before practice yesterday, leaving before the team took the ice.
  • Kevin Kurz: Sharks Matt Nieto was activated from the IR.
  • Rob Mixer: Blue Jackets Mark Letestu who had groin and abdominal surgery on December 2nd could return on January 9th against the Maple Leafs.
  • Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets have put Cam Atkinson on the IR retroactive to Dec. 27th. He can be activated on January 3rd.
  • Michael Smith: The Hurricanes put John-Michael Liles on the IR and recall Ryan Murphy.
  • Dan Murphy: Canucks Zack Kassian said he’s “real close” and hopes to play in their next game.
  • Michael Russo: Wild’s Jonas Brodin is feeling better, but they don’t want him traveling just yet and playing prematurely.
  • Lance Pugmire: Ducks Corey Perry said he’ll be reassessed this morning to see if he can play tonight.
  • Ansar Khan: The Red Wings put Jacob Kindl on the seven-day IR with a sprained elbow.
  • Joe Smith: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said that Andrei Vasilevskiy was recalled as Ben Bishop has been dealing with a minor nagging issue. He’ll be reassessed today.
  • Lou Korac: The Blues activated Brian Elliott yesterday and put Chris Porter on the IR.
