Injuries: Coyotes, Panthers, Oilers, Canucks, Senators and More

On the Coyotes …

  • Sarah McLellan of the AZ Republic: Coyotes center Martin Hanzal and Antoine Vermette both missed Tuesday’s game with lower-body injuries. Coach Dave Tippettt said there is a “good chance” that they are able to return on Friday.

“When you take two of our top centermen out, it’s hard to replace,” defenseman Zbynek Michalek said. “Especially a guy like Marty. He’s a huge presence. He’s playing so well to start the season. That hurts our team. You just don’t replace guys like that.”

On the Panthers …

  • George Richards of the Miami Herald: Coach Gerald Gallant said that Jaromir Jagr could return this weekend.

“He’s day-to-day, don’t think it will be too long, obviously,” Gallant said after a light skate Wednesday in which just the fourth forward line, four defensemen and backup goalie Al Montoya took part.

Jagr left their last game after his fourth shift. Gallant said that he could have returned to the game, but there was no reason to force it.

On the Oilers …

  • Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers have put defenseman Justin Schultz and forward Rob Klinkhammer on the IR.

On the Canucks …

  • Vancouver Canucks: Defenseman Dan Hamhuis will not be traveling with the team to Dallas and Arizona. He’s being evaluated in Vancouver.
  • Jon Abbott: Brandon Prust isn’t traveling with the Canucks on their road trip.

On the Flames …

  • Pat Steinberg: The Flames have activated T.J. Brodie and put Micheal Ferland on the IR.
  • Wes Gilbertson: Ferland is out with a sprained MCL.

On the Blues …

On the Senators …

  • Bruce Garrioch: Mike Hoffman said he’s still day-to-day and is hopeful for Saturday. He still needs a couple more skates before returning.
  • Ian Mendes: Defenseman Marc Methot returned to the lineup last night.

On the Lightning …

  • Joe Smith: The Lightning have recalled Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, meaning that Cedric Paquette and/or Brian Boyle may not be ready to return, or he may have been recalled just for insurance.

On the Penguins …

  • Dave Molinari: Forward Beau Bennett returned the lineup last night.

On the Blackhawks …

  • Chris Hine: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Michal Rozsival being ready for Monday would be “stretching it.”

On the Lightning …

  • Mike Stephenson: Andrei Vasilevskiy made the first start of his AHL conditioning stint last night.
