Injuries: Ducks, Stars, Capitals, Bruins, Blue Jackets, Leafs and Devils
  • Lance Pugmire: Ducks Sami Vatanen is out four to six weeks. Matt Beleskey will be out two to four weeks.
  • Eric Stephens: Vatanen and Beleskey will both be back for the playoffs. Ducks at the deadline may be a little more interesting now.
  • Eric Stephens: There is no break, and surgery is not needed for Vatanen.
  • Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Stars Valeri Nichushkin, who is recovering from hip surgery on Nov. 18th is four to six weeks away after visiting a doctor on Friday.

    “He’s skating before and after practice, but it will be a little bit longer for him,” Nill said. “We’ll take it slower and just make sure he’s ready for each step.”

  • Alex Prewitt: Capitals Dmitry Orlov:  “It’s hard to say. I think pretty close. I feel I’m not ready for the game yet, but I hope it’s soon.”
  • Alex Prewitt: Once Orlov feels that his wrist is good, he’ll still need to get medical clearance. There are no appointments scheduled.
  • Joe Haggerty: Bruins defensman Kevan Miller has re-injured his right shoulder and has returned to Boston.
  • Shawn Mitchell: The Blue Jackets don’t have any plans to shut down Ryan Murray or Boone Jenner according to GM Jarmo Kekalainen. They expect both to play later on this season.
  • Shawn Mitchell: Blue Jackets Nick Foligno missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury and is day-to-day
  • Mark Masters: Maple Leafs Joffrey Lupul (lower-body) skated yesterday. Dion Phaneuf (hand) didn’t skate yesterday after being on the ice on Monday. Jonas Siegel: There is no timeline on when Lupul will return. He’s day-to-day and there is no rush to get him back in the lineup.
  • Jonas Siegel: Leafs David Clarkson looked alright in the dressing room. Coach Peter Horachek didn’t have an update on his status.
  • Rich Chere: The Devils activate Stephen Gionta off the IR.
