Injuries: Hawks, Sens, Blues, Canucks, Oilers, Lightning and Leafs
  • Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago: Blackhawks Kris Versteeg suffered a left hand injury yesterday and will be out for a bit. He took a Eric Fehr shot off his hand. More will be known today.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Senators Mark Borowiecki suffered a cut on his leg that required 48 stitches on Monday. During a soccer game at the Canadian Tire Centre he was accidentally cut by an electrical outlet. He’ll be in a walking cast for a week and then be reevaluated by doctors.

“I dropped out of panic when I saw how bad it was. May have been an instinct thing. I felt I probably shouldn’t be walking on it when you see something that serious. When I did go down, I was pretty fortunate (Robin) Lehner, (J.G.) Pageau, (Craig Anderson and Bobby Ryan) did a good job of holding me down and making sure I didn’t look at it. I was pretty impressed. They knew what to do and put pressure on it.”

  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: Blues Jaden Schwartz, who has missed the past six games with a broken right foot, is traveling with team.

“If he feels good getting off the plane and has a good skate (Friday), then he goes into that day-to-day mode,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “We’re hoping he’s really turned the corner and he’s getting close to getting ready to play. It could be one day, two days, three days, five days, who knows? But he’s literally day to day now.”

Carl Gunnarsson has missed 11 games with a concussion could be back as early as tonight.

Said Hitchcock: “We’re going to talk to him today and see if he’s ready to play. He’s had no complications, no setbacks at all. He’s acting and behaving just like a player now.”

  • Dan Murphy: Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis has been skating and hopes to play before the All-Star break.
  • Edmonton Oilers: Oilers Tyler Pitlick suffered a lacerated spleen. He’s staying Calgary for further evaluation.
  • Joe Smith: Lightning’s Ben Bishop expects to be ready tonight.
  • Erik Erlendsson: Lightning’s Jason Garrison is probable for tonight. Radko Gudas is questionable.
  • Jonas Siegel: Sounding like Maple Leafs Richard Panik will be available tonight. He said he has no concussion symptoms.
  • Leafs PR: Leafs Peter Holland returned to Toronto for more evaluation of his upper-body injury.
  • Jonas Siegel: The Leafs put Joffrey Lupul on the IR, so he’ll be out at least a week.
  • Jason Mackey: Penguins Paul Martin didn’t skate yesterday. He was hoping to return with weekend.
