Injuries: Maatta, Stalock, Hall, Martinez, Eaves and Fraser
  • Pittsburgh Penguins: Olli Maatta confirmed that the tumor they removed from his thyroid last week was indeed cancerous. Josh Yohe: Penguins coach Mike Johnston said that Maatta could be back at any point during the next five days.
  • JoAnne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers Taylor Hall took the morning skate yesterday wearing two knee braces. He sprained a knee ligament on Nov. 1st.

“When I am ready to play, and I’m confident in my knee, I’ll play,” he said. “It sucks being hurt for sure, but I think I’ve done everything I can to make sure I’m healing fast. I think we’re on schedule.

    “Hopefully I’m playing soon.”

  • Curtis Zupke: Kings Alec Martinez left last night’s game after the second period.
  • Dallas Stars: Stars Patrick Eaves left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.
  • Bruins Matt Fraser left the ice a little wobbly after a fight with Nathan Beaulieu but returned for the third period.
