Injuries: Oilers, Preds, Lightning, Devils, Coyotes, Wings, and Bruins
  • Bruce McCurdy of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers Taylor Hall left last night’s game after taking a hit from Flames Garnet Hathaway. Coach Todd McLellan would only say that it was a minor nick.
  • Adam Vingan of the Tennessean: Predators Cody Hodgson and Barret Jackman are day-to-day with upper-body injuries. Neither has practiced with the team recently. Jackman has been skating on his own and is recovering from an elbow injury.
  • Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Lightning’s Kristers Gudlevskis returned to practice yesterday. He’s believed to have a right arm/shoulder injury and feels “close to 100-percent.” Gudlevskis isn’t sure when he’ll get into an exhibition game.
  • Rich Chere of NJ.com: Devils Reid Boucher had been out with a concussion, has practiced the past two days.

“I was skating well. It was short-lived. I felt really good. It was pretty frustrating,” Boucher said of the rookie game in Buffalo. “I took a couple of hits in the first and then had a bit of a headache. I just didn’t feel right in the second so I wanted to get checked out.”

Patrik Elias has been out with a sore right knee and is close to making his first on-ice appearance.

  • NHL.com: Coyotes Martin Hanzal said that he’s fully recovered from his back surgery.

“I feel great, better than ever,” Hanzal said after the second day of training camp, according to the Coyotes website. “For sure I feel really good and really strong, and I’m glad to be on the ice with the boys and trying to enjoy the camp.”

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Red Wings Darren Helm will be out two to four weeks with a slightly separated shoulder. He also went through concussion tests. Helm collided with Jerome Verrier during practice. The two didn’t see each other, with Verrier breaking his leg.

  • Ted Kulfan: Helm said that he’s still bothered by headaches. He isn’t ruling out being ready for their season opener.
  • Amalie Benjamin: Bruins Seth Griffith will be out three to four weeks with a MCL sprain.
  • Chris Kuc: Blackhawks Bryan Bickell said that he still suffers from vertigo symptoms, but expects to be able to control them.
