Morning Hits: Bruins, Wings, Blue Jackets, Wild, Flames and Islanders

Injury updates

  • Boston Bruins: Brad Marchand said he’s feeling good. He didn’t really have any concussion symptoms, but they followed protocol. Zack Cox: Marchand will travel with the team out west, but he not sure when he’ll be ready to get back into the lineup.
  • CSNNE: Bruins put Joe Morrow on the IR and recalled Tommy Cross.
  • Helene St. James: Red Wings Darren Helm is still dealing with some of the side effects from his concussion, but he passed his baseline tests and is hopeful for this weekend.
  • Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets Alex Wennberg (concussion) and David Clarkson (lower-body) are unlikely to play tonight according to GM Jarmo Kekalainen. Both could be back on the weekend.
  • Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Wild forward Tyler Graovac will miss at least the next couple weeks with a strained groin. He isn’t traveling with the team on their three day road trip. Justin Fontaine will take Graovac’s spot on a line with Thomas Vanek and Charlie Coyle. It’s not known if Graovac will need some conditioning in the AHL when he’s ready to play. They are down to 12 forwards, with Jordan Schroeder or Zac Dalpe as logical options for recall, though Dalpe is injured.
  • Eric Francis: Flames Lance Bouma left last night’s games with an apparent knee injury.

Roster notes

  • Erik Erlendsson: The Lightning signed defenseman Dominic Masin to an entry level deal.
  • Brett Cyrgalis: The Islanders sent defenseman Ryan Pulock to the AHL to get into some games, starting tonight and possibly Friday.
