  • Aaron Portzline: Ryan Johansen’s agent Kurt Overhardt: “Reports of it being a nasty negotiations …the media may have created that. It hasn’t been negative and nasty.”
  • Terrell Williams of Hurricanes.NHL: Jeff Skinner has a concussion.

    “Jeff has been diagnosed with a concussion,” said Francis. “He will continue to be monitored by our team doctors and go through proper protocols in the coming days.”

    Erik Erlendsson: Lightning’s Jonathan Drouin said it’s not up to him if he’s able to get into their opener. He’s feeling better and got a little more clearance yesterday.

  • Andrew Gross: The Rangers have put Derek Stepan on the LTIR with his fractured left fibula. He’ll be out at least 10 games.
  • Arthur Staple: Islanders Michael Grabner (upper-body) isn’t close to returning and will start the year on the IR. Matt Carkner (upper-body) is also out. Calvin de Haan (upper-body) was put on the IR retroactive at September 23rd. Grabner is retroactive to September 26th.
  • Lance Pugmire: Ducks Cam Fowler is basically pain free and it’s a day-to-day thing if he plays on Thursday.
  • Frank Seravalli: Flyers Wayne Simmonds was on the ice yesterday with extra padding on both skates.
  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis said that Cody Franson is “unlikely” for tomorrow night.
  • Michael Traikos: Nonis said that Viktor Loov will play with MODO this year.
  • David Pollak: Sharks Nikolay Goldobin will play with HIFK in the Finnish Elite League.
  • STL Blues News: Brian Elliotte will be the Blues starter for opening night.
