  • Craig Custance: Teams must be cap compliant by the end of the day on October 7th when they have to submit their opening night rosters.
  • Elliotte Friedman: The NHL rejected the Oilers contract with Vladimir Tkachev’s as he is still draft eligible. Jason Gregor: Had Tkachev played a full season in the CHL, the Oilers would have been able to sign him. Bob Stauffer: Tkachev played two games for Omsk of the KHL last year while he waited for his release to head over to the CHL.
  • Edmonton Oilers Audio: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish talks about Tkachev’s contract situation.
  • Ryan Kennedy: The Stars are able to assign 2014 1st round pick Julius Honka to the AHL even though he was drafted out of the WHL (Swift Current). Juha Hiitela: Honka was loaned to Swift Current, so when he was signed to his entry-level contract, he was under IIHF-NHL transfer deal.
  • Dan Rosen: The sale of the Islanders was unanimously approved. The deal isn’t finalized, but they hope to have it done by the start of the season. Chris Johnston: Charles Wang will keep a minority interest in the team.
  • Chris Johsnton: A NHL governor on expansion: “That’s going nowhere right now.”
  • Kirk Luedeke: The Bruins may  be forced to keep Matt Fraser as he is no longer waiver exempt. Would need to clear waivers to be sent to the AHL.
