Jason Mackey: Defenseman Ron Hainsey left the game early. Looked like he had an issue with his hand after the Flyers second goal.
Jason Mackey: Coach Mike Sullivan had no update on Hainsey after the game.
Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Mark Streit (lower-body), Matt Cullen (lower-body) and Patric Hornqvist (concussion) all skated yesterday morning. Hornqvist had been skating on his own, with yesterday being the first time he’s skated with teammates since suffering a concussion.
Defenseman Kris Letang hasn’t been skating, but coach Mike Sullivan said he’s progressing.
“He is making progress,” Sullivan said. “He is feeling better. The next step will be to get him on the ice and see how that goes. We’ve been encouraged with the last few days. We’ll see where it goes from there, but he is making progress.”
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Joe Smith: Tyler Johnson was at the arena yesterday to likely get treatment on his lower-body injury. His status for tonight is unclear.
On the New York Rangers …
Steve Zipay of Newsday: Forward Jesper Fast and defenseman Dan Girardi are getting close to returning to the Rangers lineup. Girardi just started skating after they shut him down on February 26th because of ankle issues.
On the Ottawa Senators …
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Sens goaltender Craig Anderson is out with a lower-body injury and there is no timetable on when he’ll be back. They don’t suspect his injury is serious.
Forward Mark Stone will be out till at least next Tuesday, maybe longer.
Defenseman Mark Borowiecki is still out with a lower-body injury.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
Vancouver Canucks: Coach Willie Desjardins didn’t have much of an update on goalie Jacob Markstrom: “We’re still pushing him to see how he responds.”
On the Chicago Blackhawks …
Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times: Forward Artem Anisimov will be out three to four weeks with a left leg injury. They are hopeful he’ll be back in time for the start of the playoffs.
