“suffered trauma to his right thigh, creating a Charley-horse effect which prohibited him from returning to the game.”
There is no timetable for his return, but they are not expecting it to be long-term. Murray added that it was unrelated to the fractured right fibula.

- Iain MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun: Dan Hamhuis had his first surgery yesterday morning to fix “multiple” fractures to his mouth area after being hit with a Dan Boyle slapshot. Coach Willie Desjardins estimated that Hamhuis will be out for at least two months. He also suffered a concussion on the play.
“He’ll be all right, but it might take a while,” defenceman Chris Tanev said. “The main thing is he gets healthy and hopefully he can join us later in the year. After he got hit, I think we were all in shock a little bit. We were all scared for him.”
“I haven’t seen that much blood, that quickly, on the ice ever,” defenceman Matt Bartkowski said.
- Luca Sbisa’s hand injury will keep him out of the lineup until sometime after Christmas.

- George Richards: Nick Bjugstad was put in the IR with an upper-body injury and is not expected to travel with the team on their upcoming road trip.
- George Richards: Steven Kampfer had an MRI on possibly his knee. It doesn’t sound serious, but he won’t be heading with the team to Boston.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
- Sarah McLellan: Mike Smith and Martin Hanzal didn’t practice yesterday. Shane Doan took part in practice.
