NHL Injuries: Penguins, Senators, Maple Leafs, Bruins, Flyers and Sharks
Pittsburgh Penguins Matt Murray out for Game 2
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jonathan Bombulie: Matt Murray, Bryan Rust and Trevor Daley didn’t practice yesterday.

Sam Werner: Also not at practice and not a surprise that they weren’t was Chad Ruhwedel, Carl Hagelin and Chris Kunitz

Jason Mackey: Coach Mike Sullivan said that Murray has a lower-body injury and there is no timetable on his return.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Sullivan: “Fleury is gonna play tomorrow and Tristan Jarry is gonna back up.”

Wes Crosby: The Penguins said that defenseman Kris Letang had successful neck surgery this week on his herniated disc. He’s still expected to be out for four to six months.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Chris Stevenson: Coach Guy Boucher said that defenseman Marc Methot’s ability to shoot will be the determining factor if he’ll be able to get back into the lineup or not.

Amalie Benjamin: Methot will be a game-time decision for Game 2.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Kristen Shilton: Coach Mike Babcock on forward Eric Fehr being close to returning: “I think so. They let him out of jail today. Looks like the science project’s almost over.”

On the Boston Bruins …

Steve Conroy of the Boston Hearld: The Bruins didn’t practice yesterday. Forward David Krejci is nursing an upper-body injury and they’re hopeful he can go on Saturday.

“It’s been day-to-day. We miss him. He’s a great playoff performer, but you’ve got to soldier on and hopefully he’s ready to go on Saturday.”

Defenseman Colin Miller left Game 1 early after taking a leg-on-leg hit from Mark Borowiecki. Miller needed help getting off the ice.

“He couldn’t finish obviously and he’ll be reassessed. It’s a lower body, obviously. Everyone saw it. But after that, I don’t have a definite answer going forward,” said Cassidy. “It’s another defenseman out of our lineup (along with Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo, not with the team). He played 60 games for us this year. He’s a good skater and puck mover.

“But that’s where depth comes in and maybe he’ll be fine Saturday. I’m not ruling him out.”

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Dave Isaac: GM Ron Hextall said that Dale Weise will have surgery for bone spurs in his elbow. Brandon Manning will have surgery on a disc in his back.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Darren Dreger: Can expect Joe Thornton to go through the same routine. He skated yesterday, will take the morning skate today and will be a game-time decision.
