NHL injury updates
Craig Morgan: Arizona Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta isn’t traveling with the team. He’ll be going to the AHL to get into a few games. Adin Hill will travel with the team to Anaheim.
- Richard Morin: Raanta only played 40 minutes during the preseason due to his lower-body injury. He hasn’t played a regular season game in almost a year.
Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan seems a little confused about his playing status. The Blackhawks included him on their active roster.
“I guess you guys know more than I do,” he said, perplexed. “I don’t think that’s the plan as of right now.”
Head coach Jeremy Colliton on de Haan being confused about his status.
“The plan for him doesn’t change: Just try to get ready, and then we’ll tell him if he’s playing or not,” Colliton said.
Colliton believes de Haan is close, de Haan said it was a grind just to get through practice.
Minnesota Wild PR: The Wild put defenseman Greg Pateryn on the IR.
Matt Vensel: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that Sidney Crosby will play tonight. Alex Galchenyuk will be a game-time decision.
Matt Vensel: The Penguins put forward Bryan Rust on the LTIR.
San Jose Sharks: Defenseman Erik Karlsson missed last night’s game to attend to a personal matter.
- Kevin Kurz: The Sharks found out about an hour before the game that Karlsson wouldn’t be playing.
Chelena Goldman of NBA Sports: San Jose Sharks forwards Timo Meier and Kevin Labanc left last night’s game in the third period.
Head coach Pete DeBoer didn’t have an update on either player after the game.
Joe Smith: Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman and forward Tyler Johnson were back practicing yesterday and its looking like they will be ready for their season opener.
- Bryan Burns: Coach Jon Cooper said that Hedman and Johnson are good to go.
David Schoen: The Vegas Golden Knights have placed forward Cody Eakin on the IR.
