Alexandar Georgiev wants to return to the NHL next season
Hockey News Hub: Spartak KHL goaltender Alexandar Georgiev had one year left on his contract, and his contract was terminated.
His agent Stanislav Romanov said that Georgiev wants to return to the NHL: “The goal is to return to the NHL. Alexandar expressed the desire to try himself in the NHL again. There was such an agreement.”
update: Hockey News Hub: “This was terminated by Alexandar Georgiev. It was not mutual. He bought the last year of his contract out to pursue NHL career again.”
From big names to offer sheets to free agents to the draft for the Chicago Blackhawks
Scott Powers of The Athletic: (mailbag 1) It’s sounding like the Chicago Blackhawks are open to anything this offseason. We’ll see who becomes available for trade. Teams looking to trade a significant piece/player will likely be looking to get a significant player in return.

If the St. Louis Blues were to move Robert Thomas, they may be okay with getting picks and prospects in return. If the Minnesota Wild are looking to move some money, Ryan Hartman might make some sense. If Alex Tuch gets to free agency, the Blackhawks will likely call, but does it really make sense for the Blackhawks to offer the 30-year-old $10-plus million?
Could they offer sheet Vegas Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev? He could come in around $10 million and would cost two firsts, a second and a third if an offer sheet like that isn’t matched. Would Dorofeyev even consider signing an offer sheet? If over $11.94 million, it would be four first-round picks.
The Blackhawks may want Kevin Korchinski on a two-year deal, but he could look for one and then be arbitration-eligible after next season.
Don’t think that the Blackhawks would put together a trade offer for Jason Robertson good enough for the Stars to consider. They’d likely want players and not picks and prospects.
If the first three picks in the draft are forwards, think they’d select Chase Reid at No. 4, even if he’s a right-handed defenseman.
Still believe that Ilya Mikheyev will re-sign with the Blackhawks, even with the permission he has to speak with other teams. The Blackhawks hope that after he talks to some teams, he realizes that there isn’t a better deal out there.
Think the Blackhawks will try to acquire a left-handed, puck-moving NHL defenseman. They may look for someone who is a little younger that would be around for more than a year or two.
NHL Rumors: Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks
The Toronto Maple Leafs ask from the Blackhawks for Matthew Knies at the deadline was massive, and they weren’t close. Frank Nazar and a first-round pick seems like a lot for Knies, and don’t think the No. 4 pick would be in play. They could use a player like Knies, though.
