NHL Rumors: Coyotes, Habs, Leafs, Sabres, Blues, Lightning, Isles, Bruins, Wings and Sens
The Arizona Coyotes asked the Montreal Canadiens for a lot for Martin Hanzal

On the Arizona Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators …

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Arizona Coyotes initial asking price for Martin Hanzal from the Montreal Canadiens was Michael McCarron and two draft picks. One of the draft picks was a first round pick, and the other being a conditional pick.

With the 2017 draft not being considered a great one, getting the sense that teams might be willing to trade first round picks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs could be looking for some depth down the middle.

Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving told teams he isn’t trading Sam Bennett after he was made a healthy scratch last week.

It was a tense 72 hours for the Buffalo Sabres and Robin Lehner after he wasn’t happy being pulled from the game against the Maple Leafs. GM Tim Murray shot down rumors that Lehner would be playing elsewhere.

The St. Louis Blues are trying to move some salary to create some flexibility. A Ben BishopKevin Shattenkirk trade makes some sense. Bishop has struggled this season, so that may not be an answer for the Blues.

The Lightning were five points out of the playoffs heading into last night’s action. GM Steve Yzerman has looked at the rental market.

Friedman wonders if the New York Islanders should look at adding some help down the middle to lessen the load on John Tavares.

Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney would rather make a trade first to see if that changes things for the Bruins, as opposed to firing head coach Claude Julien.

Don Sweeney was on the scouting list for the Ducks-Wild game over the weekend, but he didn’t make it.

Tomas Jurco may be looking for a change of scenery, and the Detroit Red Wings are looking into it.

The Ottawa Senators may now turn their attention to pending UFA Mike Condon about a possible contract extension.
