NHL Rumors: Ducks, Bruins and Jets
Report that the Boston Bruins have recently talked to the Ducks about Cam Fowler
On the Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks and Cam Fowler …

Jimmy Murphy: The Boston Bruins have recently inquired about Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Bob McKenzie of TSN: (from Tuesday) Hampus Lindholm was looking for more than $6 million a season on six-year deal. The Ducks are hoping to get him signed for closer to $5 million a year. Lindholm may now have lowered his asking price and could be in the $5 to $6 million a year range – closer to $6 million and no less than $5.5 million.

A couple weeks ago it looked like the Ducks and Rickard Rakell were close on a six-year deal worth just under $4 million a season – $3.75 million? There is still no deal in place and both sides are tight-lipped. Since there is no idea what the issue is, left to speculate that maybe there is a medical issue. Rakell had offseason surgery, but he’s back training. He was not expected to be ready their season opener.

DragLikePull: Going off Bob McKenzie’s reporting, it will take around $9 million a season for the Ducks to re-sign both Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell. The Ducks do not currently have that much salary cap space.

Bob McKenzie: The Ducks will have to trade someone when they sign Lindholm. Guessing it will be Cam Fowler.

On the Winnipeg Jets and Jacob Trouba

Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff was asked about Jacob Trouba and didn’t offer much of an update.

“I’d really like to elaborate on different things like that,” he said. “But we’re not going to comment on the situation other than the fact we’ll deal with whatever we have to deal with and do whatever’s right for the organization.”

A young player requesting trades isn’t just an isolated situation in Winnipeg.

“This is a phenomenon of the National Hockey League,” he said. “It’s not a phenomenon of the Winnipeg Jets.”
