Canadiens interested in a Stars defenseman?

Jimmy Murphy: Have heard that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in Dallas Stars restricted free agent defenseman Julius Honka.

The Stars have just under $1 million in cap space and they may prefer to move someone else though.

Reaves on if he worried about getting traded

David Schoen: Ryan Reaves when asked if he was worried about getting traded by the Vegas Golden Knights this past offseason due to their salary cap situation: “I was worried because of all you idiots writing I should get traded and they should keep all these other guys. So, yeah, I was worried.”

David Schoen: Reaves continued: “I think I’ve been around long enough that you can’t pay attention to the business side. Obviously, everybody on this team wants to play in Vegas, but the business side of it comes into play sometimes and you lose friends. … I’ve learned to not let it affect me.”

Senators Pageau is entering the final season of this deal

Murray Pam of the Sporting News: Ottawa Senators forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau is entering the final year of his contract. When asked if he’s thought about his future.

“I’m an Ottawa Senator. This is where my career started. This is the team that showed confidence in me. I’m happy here. I love representing the Senators. Every time I wear the logo, I take pride.

Ottawa is close to people I love, my wife, my family, my friends. I’ve got to meet so many people through the years. Like I said I’m happy here. My main focus isn’t about the contract. It’s really about the team – how we’re going to approach and start this year the right way.”
