Josh Cooper: Source confirms that the Ducks will interview Lambert.

The Oilers haven’t asked to speak with …

Jim Matheson: Don’t believe that Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland has asked for permission to speak with Todd Nelson about their vacant head coaching position. It’s still possible that they could ask to speak with him, but it hasn’t happened yet.

On Ralph Krueger

WGR 550: Elliotte Friedman on WGR 500 on Ralph Krueger: “I have had people tell me that I’m under-selling this and that talks are further along than we thought. If this hiring does happen, it may happen some time later this week. I think he has a legitimate shot at the job.”

Pierre LeBrun: Believe that the Sabres have spoken to Krueger. It seemed clear when talking to Krueger back in April that he was interested in returning to the NHL in a president/CEO role. Maybe there wasn’t an opportunity for that anywhere.

Pierre LeBrun: Or maybe Krueger’s true passion is coaching hockey again.

Some coach the Sabres have looked at

WGR 550: Elliotte Friedman on WGR 550 on the Buffalo Sabres: “I heard a rumor that Bob Boughner was in the mix for the ‘ coaching search, but I don’t think the team wants to go down that route again.”

WGR 550: Friedman continued: I know the have looked into Todd McLellan, Dave Tippett, and we’ll see how this Ralph Krueger situation unfolds.

Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe

WGR 550: Elliotte Friedman on Toronto Marlies (AHL) head coach Sheldon Keefe: “If someone wanted him as their head coach, I don’t think Toronto would stand in his way. However, Dubas and Keefe are tight, and barring something strange happening, Keefe is in line to replace Mike Babcock as head coach of the Maple Leafs.”

WGR 550: Friedman continues on Keefe: “If Keefe leaves Toronto, that would only be for a dynamite situation. I don’t think he’s going to be leaving, and I don’t think Buffalo is going in the direction of Keefe either.”
