Artemi Panarin and his agent to discuss his future next month

TSN: Dan Milstein, the agent for Columbus Blue Jackets pending free agent Artemi Panarin was on TSN 1050 radio and was asked about Panarin’s future. Milstein said that he’ll be meeting with Panarin over the All-Star break.

“As far as the contract, he’s genuinely happy right now in Columbus, things are going well for the team and for him,” Milstein told Leafs Lunch on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto. “He’s having a good time, he obviously likes the organization, great coaching. We have decided to meet up during the All-Star break to sit down and talk about different possibilities and what the future may hold.

“Everybody will have to wait just a little bit longer, but we’ll get together at the end of January and we’ll have a serious conversation.”

The Blue Jackets also have goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky as a pending free agent. Both Bobrovsky and Panarin have said they will play out their contracts and Milstein added that they Bobrovsky and Panarin won’t sign as a package deal in Columbus or somewhere else.

The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to acquire offense

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1050 and was asked about the Carolina Hurricanes leading up to next months trade deadline.

It’s well known that the Carolina Hurricanes are looking for offense after they traded scoring forwards Elias Lindholm and Jeff Skinner.

“But I do see that Waddell and the Canes are going to be busy. And I think we’re going to continue to link the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes. We know that the Hurricanes were interested in William Nylander, and are interested in Kasperi Kapanen.

“So who knows, maybe there’s a fit there for both of those clubs in the New Year.”
