NHL Rumors: Panthers, Sabres, Vegas, Bruins and Wings
Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen against the Florida Panthers
On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Sources saying that the Panthers rejected many trade offers for Alex Petrovic. They are wanting to sign him to a long-term deal.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Sami Hoffren: Sabres RFA defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen doesn’t expect to have a contract done before the start of the World Cup and added: “Haven’t heard anything in a while.”

On Las Vegas …

The Sin Bin: Las Vegas Silver Knights, Desert Knights, and Golden Knights have been trademarked in both the U.S. and in Canada.

On the Boston Bruins …

Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald: The Bruins already have Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, David Backes, Ryan Spooner, Noel Acciari down the middle, but signed Dominic Moore to a one-year, one-way deal for $900,000 yesterday.

The Bruins could move either Backes or Spooner to the wing. They may not be totally sold on Acciari being their their fourth line center. They could also be looking at adding assets for another attempted run at a defenseman on the trade market. Spooner and his $950,000 salary could be used as a trade chip.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan of MLive: (mailbag) Khan thinks that Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall will play two more years, but wouldn’t be surprised if they retired after the season – dependent on their health. Kronwall is 35 years old with two years left on his deal and has knee issues. Zetterberg is 36 with four years left and a history of back issues. Doubtful either officially retires, so the Red Wings wouldn’t have the cap recapture penalty.

Ansar Khan of MLive: The 32-year old Jonathan Ericsson has four years left on his deal with a $4.25 million salary cap hit. He has been trending downwards the past to season. He led their defense in hits, but isn’t overly physical. He’s needs to become more intense and start the season better.
