NHL Rumors II: Bruins, Sabres, Wings, Leafs, Oilers and Blues
  • Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Some right wing trade candidates for the Bruins:Chris Stewart (BUF), David Perron (EDM), Michael Ryder  (NJ), Chris Neil (OTT) and Erik Cole (DAL).
  • Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Neither Ryan Spooner or Alexander Khokhlachev may be high-end trade chips despite being two of their higher-end prospects. Teams could be interested in Carl SoderbergReilly Smith and Torey Krug would get some interest. The Bruins also have the Flyers 2015 2nd round pick which they received in the Johnny Boychuk trade.
  • Allan Muir of Sports Illustrated: Sabres GM Tim Murray has let it be known that Chris Stewart can be had for the right price, but no one wants to pay it just yet. Stewart was recently a healthy scratch, and there is debate on what his value is. One scout last year on Stewart: “He has the intensity of a toddler.” The Senators and Bruins are said to be interested.
  • Ken Campbell of The Hockey News: The names Tyler Myers and Mike Green keep coming up with regards to the Red Wings. If the Wings can’t get Myers, they may turn to the less expensive rental in Green. Campbell has been told that the asking for Myers is Dylan Larkin, a roster player like Riley Sheahan or Tomas Jurco, and a first round pick. A Hockey News employee spoke with Myers after a Sabres loss in Toronto and notes that he’d never spoken with a more demoralized players and added “He looked like a giant Eeyore.” They might be able to get Green for a second round pick.
  • Mike Harrington: “Good lord. Another Myers-DET rumor because he looked “demoralized” after that October. loss in Toronto. Stupid. How about the last month?”
  • James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail: The Maple Leafs will likely be really close to the salary cap ceiling next year, so they could look at moving backup James Reimer and his $2.3 million salary. The market for goalies could be increasing due to injuries and inconsistencies. The Stars could be looking help. The Leafs may not be able to get much for Reimer though. The question could become, what is more valuable, the insurance or the salary cap space? There won’t be many goalies on the free agent market this summer, so someone like Reimer could have more value then. The Oilers, Wild and Sharks could be looking for a goalie.
  • Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dregers on TSN 690 – Dreger thinks the Oilers should be talking to the Leafs about James Reimer. The Leafs are always looking for a centerman, and doing something with their top-six/nine. They might be able to get a good prospect and draft pick from the Oilers for Reimer. The Leafs would show some interest in Keith Yandle if the Coyotes were going to move him. The asking price for Yandle would be high. Eliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 590 –  The Blues could be looking to make a big move that would put them over the hump. Have heard the names Patrik Berglund, T.J. Oshie and Alex Steen in reports.
  • Andy Tonge of Mayor’s ManorPaul Bissonnette interview ( recently signed a PTO with Kings AHL affiliate) ….

“I was supposed to sign with Washington. That kind of fell though, because they couldn’t Erskine. They were trying to work out a trade with him, and then I just kind of stayed in limbo there. It was either go to the camp there or to camp in St. Louis, and John Anderson, who I’m really familiar with from Phoenix, who is in Chicago, which is St. Louis’ AHL farm team, was at camp too, so that really helped bring me in. I had an awesome time there. I figured; go to St. Louis because if I went to Washington and had a good camp, there’s still no change of me signing if they hadn’t traded Erskine. After that, I just went home. It was a tough time there. It was a pretty depressing time, not having a job. I was really frustrated and upset about it. Luckily, got a couple jobs here since then.”
