Penguins coach Sullivan on trade rumors

Wes Crosby: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on Jack Johnson trade rumors, and trade rumors in general.

“We don’t overly concern ourselves with what you guys (the media) think or do, or say.”

Oilers still getting trade interest in Puljujarvi

TSN: Darren Dreger said that in the past week teams have shown interest in Edmonton Oilers Jesse Puljujarvi.

“A bit of an update on Jesse Puljujarvi, who we understand is playing well in Finland and that’s caught the attention of at least a few NHL clubs who have expressed interest Puljujarvi in the last week.

“There’s nothing doable from Edmonton’s perspective, but it is interesting to say the least. Something could develop in the weeks ahead; if not then Edmonton is willing to stand pat.”

Not many options available for Larsson replacement

TSN: The Edmonton Oilers lost defenseman Adam Larsson for six to eight weeks with a fractured fibula. The Oilers aren’t going to find someone like Larsson on waivers or in a trade according to Bob McKenzie.

Thomas Hickey of the New Islanders is available, but he’s not a top-pairing shutdown guy and he has three years left at more than $2 million per. Their current plan is just rid it out with what they have.

Stars getting trade interest in Honka

TSN: Restricted free agent Julius Honka remains unsigned. Honka and the Dallas Stars issues aren’t money, he’s looking for an opportunity, something he’s not getting in Dallas.

“Teams are talking to general manager Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars about a trade. It’s not a question of if he’ll be traded, but when he’ll be traded. And when he does, it’ll probably be for a draft pick. And it could happen in the days, if not weeks ahead as teams start to see which kids or injuries pop up in their own particular situation.”
