Does Sergei Bobrovsky make sense for the Toronto Maple Leafs?
The Leafs Nation: James Mirle, when asked about the Toronto Maple Leafs and pending UFA goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.
Nick Alberga: “Sergei Bobrovsky. What do you make of all that? Do you think there’s a potential Bobrovsky could end up a Leaf here?”
Mirtle: “Well, they’ve got the cap space. I mean, the thing that really scares me about Bobrovsky is he’s asking for a whole bunch of term and a whole bunch of dollars, and that’s why it might not work out in Florida.
He’s looking at the contract that Brad Marchand got with the Panthers and said, “Hey, why not me? And it’s like, “Well, why not you? You know, goalies age differently than a forward. You know, you can’t really hide a goal. You’re either a starter or you’re not. And he had a brutal season last year.
NHL Rumors: Robertson and Blues, Wild and Trocheck, the Blue Jackets and Marchenko
The number one reason why Florida missed the playoffs last year wasn’t the injuries to (Aleksander) Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk. It was Bobrovsky. really had a poor season.
So, for anyone bringing in Bobrovsky, the question is, is that just a one-off? I mean, if he wants to do a one-year show me deal, then sure, bring him in in Toronto.”
Kevin Weekes: There is still time for the Florida Panthers and Sergei Bobrovsky to reach a deal, but sources say the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Los Angeles Kings are among the teams.
Filip Hronek is the one guy who is staying in Vancouver
Sportsnet 650: Frank Servalli, when asked if he’s heard anything on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek.
Jason Brough: “Are you hearing anything, anything, Frank, on Filip Hronek?”
Seravalli: “Yeah, I am actually, that he’s not going anywhere. That the Vancouver Canucks plan to make Filip Hronek part of the leadership core of this team. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him named Captain, and he’s someone that they’re going to depend on and rely on here moving forward.
He’s the one guy that’s staying.
NHL Rumors: Blues, Leafs, Bobrovsky, Carlo, Marchenko, Binnington, Ristolainen, Ingram and Hage
Brough: “All right. I’m going to stop asking about Hronek then. I know that collectively in the room, the studio here, we’re all kind of hoping that in light of the prices paid for some other defenseman, that Hronek might be a guy move, but we’ll table that.”
