Predators to talk with Josi’s camp this weekend

Brooks Bratten: Nashville Predators GM David Poile said on the radio that management will meet with Roman Josi‘s agent in Vancouver at the draft to discuss the idea of a contract extension this summer.

Blackhawks may be looking at an Islanders pending UFA

Jay Zawaski: The Chicago Blackhawks may have their eye on NY Islanders pending UFA Anders Lee.

Lee would like to return to the Islanders but term may have him looking elsewhere.

Islanders looking a defense, but could move a defenseman

Andrew Gross of Newsday: Defenseman Erik Karlsson and Jacob Trouba are now off the free agent/trade market.

The New York Islanders had some interest in Trouba and likely Karlsson too if he hit the open market.

The Islanders have some depth on the blue line and could offer up Nick Leddy due to the emergence and similarities with Devon Toews.

The top free agent defenseman available include Tyler Myers, Jake Gardiner and Anton Stralman. Dion Phaneuf is now a UFA but Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello had traded him away before when he was the Toronto Maple Leafs GM.

The Calgary Flames could be looking to trade defensemen T.J. Brodie and/or Travis Hamonic.

Lehner wants to re-sign

Dan Rosen: New York Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner wants to re-sign and doesn’t want to become a UFA. He’s hopeful they can get a deal done. “I like the people there. I love my teammates. I love the organization. So obviously I want to be back.”

Dan Rosen: Lehner doesn’t care if it’s a short- or long-term deal: “I know the team knows where I stand and I just hope something works out.”

Brett Cyrgalis: Lehner: “I don’t want to be anywhere else, but if that has to happen, it happens. It’s not going to be from my side….I love my team. I have the mindset that this is still my team and I’m going to have it until the day I’m not on this team.”
