On the NY Islanders …

The Fourth Period: League source saying that the NY Islanders have received two “serious” inquiries about goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Things seemed quiet on Tuesday, but that may have now changed.

The LA Kings and Dallas Stars have considered making a goalie change, but both teams have cap problems. The Stars would need to move out a goalie if they were to bring in another. The Islanders have scouted the Kings in recent weeks.

On the LA Kings …

The Fourth Period: With Jonathan Quick‘s injury, LA Kings GM Dean Lombardi has been weighing their goalie options. The Kings have also had trouble scoring and Lombardi has been looking at his options on that front.

The Kings are considering waiving Devin Setoguchi and calling up a minor league player. Nothing appears to be imminent on the trade front.

On the Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs …

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Darren Dreger on TSN 1290 on the likelihood of the Winnipeg Jets trading Jacob Trouba.

“As for the chances of Trouba getting traded, I still feel like they’re slim and I have no reason to believe that’s going to change. I don’t think that the resolve of Winnipeg Jets ownership and management has changed even a little bit since last we spoke. And I doubt very much that it’s going to change, even though they’re going through some tough times – more injury-related than anything else.”

The pressure has to be mounting for Trouba. Dreger can’t see Trouba wanting to lose a full year.

Dreger on which teams are likely suitors for Trouba.

“Well, I mean the likely suitors are the same,” noted Dreger. “The Detroit Red Wings are still in the market strongly for a defenseman. There aren’t too many teams who aren’t in the market. The Montreal Canadiens, I think would like to improve their defense; even though the Montreal Canadiens have been a great story again through the early going of the regular season. I’m not connecting Winnipeg to Montreal, I’m just talking about teams in the market for a defenseman. Toronto, that’s an area that they’d like to bolster as well.”
