NHL Rumors: Oilers, Flyers, Sharks, Predators and Senators
Could the Edmonton Oilers move Cam Talbot? Term will play a role in any Wayne Simmonds contract talks.
Could the Oilers move Talbot?

Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal: Lead to believe that the Edmonton Oilers have talked to teams about forward Ryan Spooner.

If the Oilers were to acquire a top-six forward, and even if the other team retained some salary, the Oilers would likely need to move out salary.

Could the Oilers consider trading pending free agent goaltender Cam Talbot? Both he and Mikko Koskinen are free agents and can’t see them bringing both back next year. Koskinen as a no-movement clause.

Term will play a role of Simmonds would re-sign or not … Karlsson and Sharks to talk

Pierre LeBrun on The Athletic: The Philadelphia Flyers and the agent for pending UFA Wayne Simmonds have held regular talks of late. Term will come into play if he’s going to re-sign or not. Simmonds would look good with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Winnipeg Jets or the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The San Jose Sharks and Erik Karlsson‘s agent Don Meehan are expected to meet after the All-Star break.

Roman Josi is eligible to sign a contract extension after July 1st. He has one year left at $4 million and both sides will want to get an extension done early.

Senators may consider trading Ceci

TSN: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1200 and said that it’s possible that the Ottawa Senators could trade pending restricted free agent defenseman Cody Ceci. It wouldn’t be a surprise if teams called the Senators about Ceci and if they’d listen.

“Again, nobody has made any pronouncements, and so nothing is firm by any stretch of the imagination, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Senators were open to the idea of trading Ceci. That doesn’t mean they’re going to give him away. It’s not a fire sale. Contractually, they still own him. They could qualify him, or do another deal, or whatever the case may be – but he’s not unrestricted, he’s not walking out the door. You have some control over the player, but not a ton either. He’s getting on.

“So on that one I think there’ll likely be conversations.”
