On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall is trying to remain patient.

“I have to stay patient. You make quick decisions and you don’t make the right decisions. We’ve got a lot of thoughts going on, but we’ll see how she plays out in the next month or so.”

Hextall won’t make a change for the sake of making a change.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Maple Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello on if they could use some of their organizational depth up front to add a defenseman at some point between now, this summer or in the next 18 months.

“Let’s put it this way: every team has assets and every team has liabilities,” he said. “And , every day, no different than any other team, do everything you can do get better. If you have an opportunity to get better, you do. You weigh the pros and cons. If it’s not going to make you any better, then you don’t do it. You don’t do something just for the sake of doing it. That’s the only way I can answer a question like that. If there’s a way of getting better, we’ll get better.”

Lamoriello on talk that James van Riemsdyk is often mention as a piece to land a defenseman.

“I think that the media can create anything they want and they can get away with it,” responded Lamoriello. “And the media are paid for opinions, we’re paid to make decisions.”

Taylor Hall netted the Oilers Adam Larsson. The Predators gave up Seth Jones for Ryan Johansen.

“I think Nylander is the player they’re going to have to consider moving if they want that high-end D-man,” a Western Conference team executive said last week.

LeBrun doesn’t think the Maple Leafs want to trade Nylander. The Leafs will have to think about it if other teams are interested for their young, top-four Dman.
