“its best teams aren’t that fast. It’s different than the rest of the league, more of a grind than a speed game. Even Edmonton, outside of McDavid, is not a fast team.”
The St. Louis Blues had offered Jagr a base salary in the $850,000 range. The Vancouver Canucks had interest before they signed Thomas Vanek.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have resumed their third line center search after waiting on the Red Wings to figure out their Athanasiou situation. They may have asked the Carolina Hurricanes about Jordan Staal, but the Hurricanes weren’t interested.
Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall laughed off Claude Giroux trade rumors at the draft. He has five years left on his deal at an $8.275 million cap. A couple of GMs haven’t heard his name being brought up lately.
