“Well, I think if you look at it, they’re kind of two different cycles in the season, right? The trade deadline, there’s limited buyers, there’s limited cap space. It’s not the offseason. The rosters aren’t being reshuffled or retooled across the league. So going into the offseason, as I said, we’re going to review and take a look at everything within the roster, within the organization. We’re always going to try to make the best moves we can for the short-term and long-term health of the organization.”

The Maple Leafs will have a decision to make with Matias Maccelli
Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matias Maccelli is a pending RFA, and the next GM will need to decide whether to send the 25-year-old a $4.11 million qualifying offer or else he could become a UFA. He wants “to stay in Toronto.”
He put up 14 goals and 25 assists in 70 games, mostly in the top-six. He’s on the smallish side, along with Max Domi and Nick Robertson, is inconsistent and struggles defensively. Maccelli is arbitration eligible, along with Robertson, Jacob Quillan, and Ryan Tverberg.
