NHL Rumors: Should The Senators Trade Anderson Now? Will The Blues Make A Move?
Should the Ottawa Senators look at trading Craig Anderson? When will the St. Louis Blues make a move?
Should the Senators look to move Craig Anderson?

Graeme Nichols of The Athletic: Chris Johnston reported back before the draft that Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson showed a desire to be traded.

Anderson’s two-year extension with a $4.75 million cap hit kicked in at the start of the season. He has a 10-team no-trade list.

Holding onto Anderson is the easiest decision for the Senators to make as he’s a leader and they don’t have anyone ready to fill the starters position.

If they need a stop gap or potential No. 1 in the next years, free agency would be an option but the options may be less than desirable.

The Senators could look to trade Anderson for future assets for their rebuild and then find another goaltender closer to the deadline to bridge the gap.

Will the Blues look to make a move?

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on NBCSN and was asked about the St. Louis Blues and if they’ll look to make a trade to help turn their season around.

The Blues are dealing with injuries to Jaden Schwarz, Robby Fabbri, Alex Steen, Alex Pietrangelo and Carl Gunnarsson.

“So yeah, I think Doug Armstrong would like to make a move, but I also think that he wants to give Craig Berube an opportunity – not to have a full lineup, because all teams deal with injuries at some point in time, but enough of the lineup back intact so you get a better idea.”

Craig Berube has taken over behind the bench and goaltender Jake Allen has played better of late. GM Doug Armstrong may want to let things settle for a bit.

The Blues had a busy offseason bringing in new forwards – Ryan O’Reilly, Tyler Bozak, and Patrick Maroon. Youngsters Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas have been up, and Fabbri is back.

“So if you’re going to attack this problem via trade, now you’re starting to get into the core players. Do you want to start to blow things up, or do you want to back off a little bit, and let’s see if the injuries even things out and where they’re at.”
