On Noah Hanifin …

Jimmy Murphy: It has been reported already that the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks have shown serious interest in Hurricanes defenseman Noah Hanifin. The Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche are also interested.

Jimmy Murphy: Things to keep in mind. The Avalanche had been close to trading Matt Duchene at the draft last year for Noah Hanifin. The Bruins were trying to trade up in the 2015 draft to select Hanifin.

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic: Hurricanes defenseman Noah Hanifin is a big, left-handed defenseman that Bruins are be eyeing. The Bruins had looked at moving up in the 2015 draft, but GM Don Sweeney said that it would have cost them the 13th, 14th and 15th picks.

The issues to acquire him now are the assets needed to give up, and then what it would cost to re-sign the RFA.

The logical asking by the Hurricanes for Hanifin would be Jake DeBrusk, plus more, which is something the Bruins may not be interested in doing.

On the Boston Bruins …

Matt Dolloff of 98.5 TheSportsHub: Darren Dreger said on WGR 550 in Buffalo on Friday that teams are calling the Bruins about center David Krejci. Dreger said they are a little reluctant to move Krejci and “would like” to move forward David Backes instead.

Dolloff finds it interesting that though that may be reluctant to move Krejci, they are taking the calls to see what could be offered.

Krejci has a full no-movement clause next year, then it will become a modified no-trade clause. He has three years left a $7.5 million cap hit and would have to okay any move.

Due to his contract, if they were to move him, they wouldn’t get a big package for him.
