Wild have interview two GM candidates already
Michael Russo of The Athletic: Sources have said that the Minnesota Wild have already interviewed Ron Hextall and Peter Chiarelli for their vacant GM position.
The Wild still plan on interviewing more candidates and there is no timetable to name their new GM.
Other candidates include Dean Lombardi and Garth Snow. It’s not known if they’ve asked permission to speak with Tom Fitzgerald, Bill Guerin or Bill Zito – all three were interviewed last offseason.
Don Waddell was the Carolina Hurricanes president and GM last season and is without a contract.
Other potential candidates include Chris Drury, Mark Hunter, Brian Lawton and Mike Gillis
Joey Alfieri of NBC Sports: Five candidates for the Minnesota Wild GM could include Ron Hextall, Tom Fitzgerald, Bill Zito, Mike Futa and Peter Chiarelli.
A bridge deal for Konecny makes sense
Jordan Hall and Brooke Destra of NBC Sports: Looking at what restricted free agent Travis Konecny‘s contract could look like.
Hall: A bridge contract make sense for both the Flyers and Konecny. wonders about a three-year deal at a cap hit around $4 million range. Konecny would be 25-years old at the end of that and ready cash in on a big deal.
Destra: Agree that a three-year bridge deal in the $3 to $4 million per season range would be good for both sides.
Flyers will have eight NHL Dmen
Charlie O’Connor of The Athletic: The Philadelphia Flyers still need to re-sign restricted free agents Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny. The Flyers offseason additions are likely done.
When Provorov gets signed, the Flyers will have eight defensemen on NHL deals. They could carry eight defensemen to start the season. Samuel Morin would require waivers and they could try to slip him through right before the season starts.
Robert Hagg is also no longer waiver exempt. He would almost certainly get claimed if placed waivers. If Hagg became the odd man out, he’d be a trade candidate.
