@nylanderthews: James Mirtle (The Athletic) on the Leafs Report earlier this week: “I think that if Chayka and Sundin sit down and have really honest, thorough conversations with the players, they will come to the conclusion they need to change the coach”
Mirtle guesses that Auston Matthews doesn’t want to play for head coach Craig Berube.

Sekeres and Price: Frankie Corrado, talking about the San Jose Sharks and what could they look at if they’d consider moving the second overall pick in the 2026 NHL draft.
Corrado: “I don’t think San Jose makes that pick. I think that pick is part of San Jose’s plan to get better sooner. And that would mean, “Let’s, let’s hear your best offer.’
Do you have someone who’s a foundational piece in your organization who doesn’t fit, and maybe it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. That we can have for our organization, and we will give you that second overall pick. That’s what I think happens with that.”
Blake Price: “What they need is a right-shot defenseman who’s been there, done that. Shown the ability.”
Matt Sekeres: “All situations.”
Price: “Has years still on the runway. Under contract at a predictable number that doesn’t handicap you for the future.”
Sekers: “An a tough, gritty, defensive-minded guy …”
Price: “I can think of a guy.”
Sekeres: “… who’s not inept with the puck.”
Price: “Like a Filip Hronek, perhaps.”
Corrado: “I think they would be thinking bigger than that …”
