The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to add

John Carlson will get $10 million or more
Chris Johnston: The Carolina Hurricanes acquired pending UFA defenseman John Carlson with no contract extension pre-arranged. They just want the chance to talk to him before anyone else.
Pierre LeBrun: No matter where he ends up, the minimum price for Carlson will be a two-year at $10 million per.
There are other teams that are interested in Carlson if he gets to free agency on July 1st. Believe the Hurricanes are one of four or five teams that are interest Carlson. The Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, and Philadelphia Flyers could be the others.
Carolina Hurricanes GM to let the dust settle before starting talks with Alexander Nikishin
Cory Lavalette: Carolina Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky said on Saturday that there haven’t been any contract talks with pending RFA defenseman Alexander Nikishin. Their season recently ended, and with the NHL draft and start of free agency, so soon after, there was no pressure to start talks. Nikishin’s name comes up in the rumor mill as he’s an unsigned player.
