Two different perspectives on Eugene Melnyk as the long-term owner of the Ottawa Senators

James (@Account4hockey): Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 590: “Everyone who knows Eugene Melnyk says that he will not sell the Senators unless forced to. He loves being the owner of the Senators. If he sells, he goes back to being a regular guy.”

James (@Account4hockey): Chris Johnston on Sportsnet 960: “Melnyk has reached out to find assistance in looking to sell the team in the last year. But the number would have to be very large given the outstanding financial leverages on Melnyk (the ones associated with the team, and the personal ones).”

Potential landing options for the Oilers Puljujarvi

Jim Matheson: The Edmonton Oilers could for sure put Jesse Puljujarvi‘s name in trade talks for a veteran defenseman if their young kids stumble on the blue line with Adam Larsson out for possibly two months.

Allan Mitchell of The Athletic: Elliotte Friedman reported that the Carolina Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning had shown some interest in Edmonton Oilers Jesse Puljujarvi. TSNs Darren Dreger noted that teams are noticing Puljujarvi’s play overseas.

Who could Puljujarvi fit with?

Anaheim Ducks – Though Nick Ritchie may not be an ideal fit for the Oilers, he could slide in on their third line. He doesn’t have the speed the Oilers like though.

Carolina Hurricanes – Still tied to Puljujarvi, with Julien Gauthier name linked. He could fit what the Oilers are looking for.

St. Louis Blues – Most likely landing spot for Puljujarvi. Friedman linked Klim Kostin. Can’t see the Blues wanting to give up more.

Tampa Bay Lightning – Alexander Volkov has been linked according to Friedman’s report. The Lightning also have prospects in Alex Barre-Boulet and Taylor Raddysh (played Connor McDavid in 2014-15).

Winnipeg Jets – Jack Roslovic could be the odd man out of their lineup when Bryan Little returns. The Jets could use Roslovic to help fix their blue line instead of moving him for another forward.
