NHL Rumors V: Rangers, Ducks, Glass, Wings, Lightning, Ehrhoff and Niskanen
  • The Fourth Period: The Rangers don’t plan on re-signing Anton Stralman, Brian Boyle and Dominic Moore. They are interested in Mark Fayne. The NY Post is reporting they are interested in Ryan Carter. They are believed to have kicked tires on Paul Stastny.
  • The Fourth Period: The Ducks are looking for a top-four rugged, stay-at-home defenseman and hope to sign one when free agency starts. Options for that type of player are limited in this free agent class. Anton Volchenkov and Brooks Orpik could be get some interest. They are also looking for a top-six winger and a bottom-six forward. They could look at Martin Havlat, Steve Ott and Milan Michalek.
  • Will DePaoli: Some think that Matt Niskanen and Dan Boyle are connected. One lands with the Wings, the other with the Lightning.
  • David Pagnotta: Christian Ehrhoff is apparently looking for a deal for around five-years. Some teams are not interested because of this.
  • Jim Matheson: If Ehrhoff is looking for a five-year deal, the Oilers will be definitely out.
  • Bob Duff: The Red Wings are out on Ehrhoff as he wants more than five-years.
  • David Pagnotta: Matt Niskanen is believed to be wanting a six- or seven-year deal worth at least $6 million a year. Some teams not interested at those numbers. Red Wings and Lightning are among the teams pushing hard.
  • Bob Duff: The Red Wings are willing to the max seven-years for Matt Niskanen. They may even go has high as $6 million a year. Dan Boyle would be Plan B.
