Stars didn’t qualify Hartman, but they want to sign him

Sean Shapiro: The Dallas Stars didn’t qualify newly acquired Ryan Hartman. He will be a UFA on July 1st but the Stars plan to have contract negotiations with him about a new deal.

GM’s are looking at the cap being lower and demand for young players – could be less money spent in FA but there’s a lot of demand for defensemen.”

Teams checking on Gunnarsson, who is still talking with the Blues

Pierre LeBrun: Several teams checked in on pending UFA defenseman Carl Gunnarsson on Sunday. He’s camp is still talking with the St. Louis Blues.
