Where do things sit with C0nnor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets?
Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta last week when asked about Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and where things are at.

Irfaan Gaffar: “There’s also a goalie situation happening with the Winnipeg Jets and Connor Hellebuyck. Now, are team’s waiting. Did the Jets convince him to stay? Have they done enough to convince him to want to stay? Or where are we at with Connor Hellebuyck right now?
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I mean, look, Cole Perfetti wants to know. You mentioned it yesterday, where you know his introductory press conference on his new deal, not introductory, but formal press conference on his new deal, acknowledging that ‘Hey, just like everybody else, he wants to know what’s going on with his goaltender too.’
Could a Kirill Marchenko trade happen soon? Connor Bedard was never interested in an offer sheet
By every indication, there’s still reluctant willingness to have those conversations with other teams from Winnipeg side. I mean, if something were close, it’d probably be you know done by now. But you know, the Jets have been pretty firm on what they would want if they do move him out.
And I also think there’s you know part of their what they’re trying to do is convince him to at least give this another run. Like last year was an anomaly. We’re filling up the roster. We get, we have kid we’re super high on at eight (Viggo Bjorck). We’re still looking to bring in another winger now with Perfetti locked in. We’ve got two strong lines that can do some damage. We feel we bolstered the defense a little bit. Obviously bringing in Mario Ferraro. Let’s let’s see if we can get back on track.
I think that’s the preference, obviously, from the Jets to not move the former Vezina and Hart winner. But I still think there’s an openness to have those discussions because obviously the player is, is you know they, they he’d like them to do that.
I think at the end of the day, if he comes back in camp, he’s a pro. He’ll, he’ll, they’ll deal with it and, and water under the bridge for the time being.
But I still believe, you know, talking to people around the team and and around the league that if if the right deal is there that (Jets GM Kevin) Cheveldayoff and company can get, they would explore that and move forward with it. But obviously, we’re here on July whatever 22nd, and we’re still waiting.”
Gaffar: “And I think we’re going to be waiting. I think this is a situation much like the Dylan Larkin one that’s probably going to go right around training camp. Obviously, training camp opening a little bit earlier because the season kicks off earlier with the couple extra games that we have.
NHL Rumors: Penguins, Canucks, and the Rangers
But I think that this is a situation where you’re going to look at it, and maybe at some point you’re gonna see a statement that comes out from Connor Hellebuyck that says, ‘I’m a Winnipeg Jet, and this is I don’t want it to be distraction anymore. This is where I am. This is this is it.’
Because you can’t go into training camp with with these question marks. Just like Dylan Larkin can’t go into training camp with these question marks. It happens all the time where you want to get these things settled before you know the the big media parade happens before the season starts.”
